Lennie, not being able to control his strength accidently breaks her neck and flees to a place which was chosen by George for emergency escapes. George finds Lennie and distracting him with the details of their dream shoots him in his head to save him from Curleys tortures....

He is kind; he blindly believes George and does not doubt the possibility of their dream. George means the world to Lennie as he is the only person who cares about him and protects him. He enjoys petting everything soft and so he pets a mouse, a puppy and Curleys wife eventually accidently killing each of them.

As Lenny like to pet everything soft he accidently kills a mouse, than a little puppy and eventually Curleys wife. He happens to kill them only because he is stronger than they are. He does not realize his strength. The same way when Lennie becomes weaker, just like the puppy he accidently killed. The puppy was playing without knowing that his friend will kill him.
