A cause and effect essay can have three possible variants of organization:

Outline 1 (many causes lead to one effect)

Cause and effect essay structure

Structure 1 (many causes lead to one effect)

  • Introduction (the introduction has to include information referred to the issue of the essay. The thesis statement of the cause and effect essay is the explanation why the analyzed issue is so important due to its causes and effect).

  • Body

    1. Cause #1

    2. Cause #2

    3. Cause #3 etc.

    4. The effect of the causes (analyzes the one effect all the mentioned above causes have).

  • Conclusion (summarizes all the mentioned above causes and their effect to prove the thesis statement. The thesis statement must be restated as the bottom line of the essay).
